About Us

I wanted to create this blog for Morgan and I to share our life experiences, and things we have learned along the way about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This blog will share nutritional insight from Morgan via food, vitamins, exercise, and arming our bodies against the wear and tear of various toxins. Her daily updates will be listed on the home page of this blog. My posts will be varied and mostly found on the pages listed above the main blog. They will stem mostly from my battle with Candida, my spiritual teachings, and my fitness training from the time when I was a ballerina. I hope you will enjoy all we have to share; we look forward to hearing from you.

Peace and love

Fork in the Road

My journey started 12 years ago with a trip to the bathroom. Sounds unusual doesn't it? Well, let me be the first to tell you that your body will let you know when it can't take it anymore. "It" being all the crappy things you put it through. I never gave much thought to what I put in my mouth until the day I passed out trying to go to the bathroom. Yeah, something a little louder than a whisper when you regain consciousness with your pants around your ankles and your head on the tile floor all whilst you were trying to poop! So, after a trip to the gastroenterologist (not sure if anyone realizes this but I was the youngest one there by say.... 100 years) I was diagnosed with IBS. She gave me these pills that I had to take with me EVERYWHERE so I didn't pass out on the toilet again. Oh, did I mention these were my college years, joy! Anyway, long story short, I realized then that I needed to be in control of my body and treat it how I wanted to be treated. My journey has taken many paths from there, but that was how it all began!

So what does living naturally mean to me and my family? Well, I love to cook so in my cooking it means trying to incorporate as much fresh produce as possible. I grind my own grains to make flour. We drink raw milk. For those of you scratching your head, yes it is un pasteurized, un homogenized, straight from the cow and delicious! We buy grass fed meat, fresh eggs. We use very little processed foods. For our bodies, we use natural skincare (soap, lotion, haircare). We do not vaccinate. We use homeopathic medicines as much as possible. And if our kids get sick, I call the naturopath first, not the pediatrician. This is just a glimpse in our lifestyle. I have been studying natural living for years and am simply implementing my knowledge into our everyday life. Everyone’s journey is different. It is up to you to do the research and decide what is right for you and your loved ones.

Full Circle Back to Health

Being on the road too often, and in other countries even more often, running a business since graduating from college, and having a career in the modeling/photography/music/industry, I lived a fast paced, and hectic lifestyle with all the perks one could dream of in the beginning. Unfortunately I neglected to take the time to pay attention to my body during these years. The fatal errors I made landed me in just about every doctor’s office you could think of. If you were an M.D., whether you specialized in the Northern or Southern hemisphere of my map I was there. After all, if your not feeling well, then that’s what you do, go to the doctor that specializes in the area of the body that is causing the problem, and they will treat you. Right? …Um. Not necessarily. I’ll never forget the Boca Raton “Acclaimed” Dermatologist who cost an arm and a leg who left me looking like I had been in a boxing match telling me “Oh those chin bumps are hormonal, there’s nothing you can do about hormones.” For lack of a more intelligent way to say this, "what an idiot.
It started with constant facial breakouts and an overactive stomach, which made it hard to wine and dine me, and certainly didn’t help when I was in front of the camera for photos or interviews. Generally I felt like a train hit me every time I woke up, and it was only through sheer determination that I got myself going. As time progressed, the next 7 years became a slow and painful deterioration that I was completely unaware of. It was the time bomb inside of me, slowly blocking all normal function and eventually all nutrients from reaching my vital organs.
It took the loss of my dearest friend at the age of 29 from heart failure, and the loss of many things to finally realize I couldn’t sustain the stress anymore and it was time to do something “FAST” I exiled myself to quiet ground, found love in my closest friends and family who knew I needed to take serious health time, cuddled up with computer, and started to overcome not only my many losses but the deterioration of my health at rapid speed. I had serious weight loss (I was normally only 115lbs now down to 95 lbs.), dehydrated, overstressed, overworked, suffered from malnutrition, fatigue, chronic back pain, muscle cramps, cysts, breakouts, hormone shifts, night sweats, memory loss, premenstrual tension, severe chemical sensitivities that lead to chronic skin sensitivities to everything, indigestion, perpetual sore throats, serious bouts of the flu 2 or 3 times a year, teeth grinding, infections downstairs, the list goes on, basically I became allergic to myself and the world around me. You name it I had it.
I wanted desperately to find answers and I knew western medicine was just not going to help the situation. I found a naturopathic first to fix my skin, which had become burdened with severe rashes. That’s when the big secret was unveiled “Candida overgrowth”, this lead me down my new path to healing myself naturally. I began herbal treatment and a product called DIM. It was instant. Complete clearing of my skin first, then my energy resumed, and my PMS was improving. I was now going to do everything I could to fix the candida.
My next step took me to the queen of Holistic Living. I absolutely love her that’s why I call her a queen…to receive a blood cell analysis. This is when I received the bad news. Because of the Candida, which was brought on by long term use of birth control, antibiotics for my skin, malnutrition, extended use of Advil, and chronic stress… the candida had worked its course for many years now and had now caused holes in my intestinal wall, and therefore toxins in my blood. I am now on a very strict diet, supplements and antifungal's to cure my damaged liver, thyroid, intestinal wall, blood and clear the candida from my body. ALL NATURAL I MIGHT ADD. I have also discontinued any toxic gels or pills, house products, makeup, shampoo that is not natural. I do want to state though, that just because its natural doesn’t mean it works for you, it will be an experiment and if you have a reaction chances are you are allergic.
If you are a chronic user or doer of any of the following, or have used any or all of these things for an extended amount of time you may be at risk. If you are experiencing symptoms you just cannot seem to correct, and/or have been to so many doctors and haven't received answers, there is an answer. You can be healed. Please find a nutritionist, naturopathic, herbalist and get yourself on the right path. Do not treat your symptoms with more antibiotics and make the change.
Have you been to the doctor for a sore throat and they have told you there is nothing wrong with you. I have
Have you developed any bumps or cysts on your breasts or other areas and been told after a year of X rays, and tests that the results are inconclusive. I have
Have you had multiple blood tests, and all tests come up clean. I have
Have you used or overused any of the following:
Caffeine, Birth Control pills (causes damage to estrogen and progesterone levels, and your thyroid) Minocycline, Differin Gel, or other skin antibiotic (kills all the natural flora in your gut) Advil (causes damaging effects to your liver) Dining out long term (can cause parasites) Have had rare or multiple pregnancies (can cause thyroid complications, and or candida) neglected your diet and water intake. (Can cause candida overgrowth) remained in a situation that causes chronic stress (this can actually change your hormones and cause candida overgrowth)
My Mission:
Mission One: Aside from praying, don’t forget to pray, your going to need that later when you think your never going to get through it… Throw out every over the counter “I promise to help you go better, stop going as much, or quiet you down pill…its not working and say HELLO to a good pro biotic.” Yes! Pro biotic, my genius cousin who is a professor, this includes you, and my amazingly talented gorgeous, New York beat of my heart, good friend...you too. I love you!! (Wink wink)
Mission Two: Get over yourself and realize that Whole Foods/ farmer’s markets/Trader Joes is a savior. If only I had spent less time looking for my next Fendi Bag or the newest, hottest photography and googled “I feel like a 100 YEAR OLD who is trapped in a 20 year old exterior, who’s being drugged every morning and can’t wait to lay down, PLEASE HELP” no seriously….
Mission Three: Find a partner, like a coach, a believer, someone who cares, like a sponsor to be there for you while you go through this. Maybe an online blogger who has gone through similar experiences. I went to a naturopath...she is my coach
Of course its not easy, that's why I say choose a partner that can help you with the cooking, or new recipes, I’ve only recently started cooking...about a year now… I’m getting pretty good at it, but I am still learning. I have my ups and downs, here and there, especially when the Candida starts to die off, ouch, but I’m most happy that I love my body again while remaining successful. I am living a happy life, spiritually, mentally, and now physically.
Lets learn from our experiences by joining together and spread the love (I could only leave off with the timeless symbol here…2 fingers…peace, and a kiss to my darling for all your support, and showing me how to live again with true love and happiness and an added topping of greens. Love to my Mom for your support and weekly phone sessions, and the Almond Milk intro (for someone who has been off milk for the last decade, holy moly that’s some good stuff, and it doesn’t make me sick...sugar free I might add) Mostly, here you go, Grandmum, (my mentor, my spirit, and the reason I know what love is) you were right, all those pills were NO GOOD, I love you!!!!
